Central Territory, which has provided a much needed means to bridge newer worship choruses with the existing musical sections found in many Salvation Army corps. At Hamilton Temple, we enjoy a truly blended worship experience, and this accompaniment is one we use quite often:

meditation - Serenity - Eric Ball
Eric Ball is regarded as one of the most prolific composers in the brass band world. Here we present one of his lesser known compositions from the Salvation Army's Triumph Series, which displays his tremendous ability to make stirring music while maintaining a technical level that would be accessible by the vast majority of brass bands. The beautiful words which are set to this melody, are found in the Salvation Army's songbook (#771):

When peace like a river attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll,

This classic march is numbered #935 in the Salvation Army's General Series, and would often be played on the streets of Hamilton during a Saturday evening "Open-Air Meeting", or on the march back to the Sunday Evening Service. It typifies the Salvation Army's passion and enthusiasm in its mission to win souls for the Kingdom.

In June 1958, this masterpiece published as #1460 in the Salvation Army's General Series, and it has been a constant favorite for player and listener alike. In his usual way, the message is clearly relayed, with the reminder that as Christians, this world is not our home - we are certainly exiled on this earth. The introduction in the score notes is as follows: "Press on just one more day' sings the exile, but in a minor key for he is a long way from home. Then suddenly he remembers his heritage, 'I'm the child of a King,' and sings with joy. Now evermore confident, he resumes his journey ('Trust on! Have faith in God') and later falls to dreaming of the moment when he will see his Lord face to face…"

The sweet sound of the euphonium is a beautiful setting for the lovely Scottish melody, 'Annie Laurie'. Deputy Bandmaster Paul Alvarez ably provides this sensitive rendition to Nathan Aldersley's timeless words:

Joy Webb has authored many songs for various Salvation Army publications over the past 4 decades. The listener is able to relate to her words in a way that will bring their walk closer to the Lord:

selection - Divine Communion - Arthur Gullidge
In choosing the repertoire for this recording, we accepted submissions from within our corps family, which is very supportive of the band and its ministry. As submissions were received, it became evident very quickly that this was the most popular inclusion on the recording by far.

It wasn't until after Arthur Gullidge and his band were lost at sea during the second World War that this score was found and published, to give us what would prove to be his most loved selection.

This work incorporates the following songs: 'All there is of me, Lord', 'Sweet will of God', and 'Holy Spirit Faithful Guide'. This is fitting for us at Hamilton Temple as we petition the Lord to take all there is of us in accordance with His perfect will, and look to the leading of the Holy Spirit for guidance.
